It’s the season to be jolly – tra la la la la la la la laaaa …
Okay it’s a bit early, but it won’t be long now.
And the height of the social season of the year and a huge part of socializing in most cultures involves food.
We break bread with friends and family alike, especially at Christmas time.
And I can’t think of a more substantial piece of equipment to have at the core of your kitchen tools and equipment than a KitchenAid.
The KitchenAid KSM156BCA Artisan Mixer
Back in the day … when I first came across the KitchenAid I was training school-leavers in all things food and cooking and catering, by way of preparation for their future careers in the food industry.
The training was two-fold, out on placement in catering establishments, anything from a sandwich bar to a 5* hotel, I had kids at Manchester United and the Lancashire Country Cricket Ground, as places I had worked as a casual waitress myself.
Although I visited them out at those establishments, I also ran an in-house micro canteen, serving a loyal crew of regular diners, where we gained a good reputation for quality and price. I bet you’ll never guess where I herald from – in case you don’t know the UK very well, it’s Manchester, where these two establishments Man Utd and the LCCC are just around the corners from one another in Stretford, although some die-hards would argue that Man Utd is in Salford (as it tips onto the border).
The kids loved the pressure and the buzz, which if you’ve ever worked in the Food & Beverage Industry you’ll wholly relate to, and if there was one piece of equipment we all agreed on it was our prized KitchenAid Food Mixer where the youngsters would elbow one-another out of the way in order to use it.
Professional Food Mixer
If you’ve never used one you might be wondering what made it so popular? The features everyone loved best are it’s simple yet slick design, and as it’s made completely of metal it’s a substantial piece of kit complete with a sturdiness unlike any other similar machine, that often have a tendency to move around as the machine vibrates.
It was the first make to borrow the stainless steel bowl from the professional kitchen environment and this acts as the icing on the cake (so the speak) 🙂 which means it’s very easy to clean which always helps in the aftermath of preparing a meal for that special occasion that can turn an unblemished kitchen area into a catastrophe area.
An Easy Clean Machine
This machine really does tick all the boxes by combining a beautifully designed domestic appliance with all the features and stability of a professional machine. The only aspect that may put people off is the price … but with equipment such as this you really do get what you pay for.
And it makes a great present to yourself or a wedding gift, or yes a Christmas present, although I’m not even going to go there with the subject of how many men think that we women are happy to receive presents for the house – as wonderful as this piece of kit is, that’s definitely a no-no for most women any way!
Television Cookery Shows
If you check out television cookery shows, such as the BBC’s Great British Bake Off you’ll see every contestant has a KitchenAid sitting on the workbench, as a standard piece of kit.
Another show where the KitchenAid pops up on a regular basis is the BBC’s Master Chef so it gets around, But it’s such a lovely simple, clean, easy-to-use and clean machine, that every home should have one, at least where a regular attempt at the home-cookery tasks of mixing and baking go on.
Just as an add on here, there is nothing wrong with baking and eating baked goods, provided you mostly eat a balanced healthy eating throughout the week. And although home cooking is something that food addictions can stem from, unconsciously, avoiding baked goods is not necessarily the best way to deal with this if it’s an issue for you.
It’s a big topic, and everyone is different, getting your eating normalised is key, and there is such a wide range of alternative products to use in baking instead of wheat based items for example, that the world of cuisine has taken on a new life in offering such a range of experimental opportunities.

90th Anniversary Limited Edition (Candy Apple Red)
Here you’ll see the special edition version of the KitchenAid Machine and the colour is very seasonal and fashionable at the moment with lots of other matching equipment out there in the market … that will look very smart in any modern kitchen – begging to be used more often and more easily than any food mixer you may have owned before.
It gets a big thumbs up from me and that’s not just me being sentimental. I was in that role for 9-yrs and just wonder where they are now and what they’re getting up to, and that would be fascinating to learn.
