If you’ve ever had knee joint pain you’ll know how inconvenient it can be, to say the least, and it really can affect your quality of life. It just happens to be one of a set of pain-symptoms that’s ancestral in my family, where my dear mum had it for many years.
This diagram is great information on how to care for it when it’s at the height of it’s discomfort, and how to get free of it once and for all, without surgery or medication?
It’s quite typical for it to come and go, and when it’s around it can inhibit walking, and ultimately this has some folk fearful of moving too much in case it gets worse. This makes the elderly especially vulnerable.
What Is Pain
Knee joint pain and mobility feel as though they’re connected and I know because I inherited this little gem. There are some who would swear it was related to aging, but consider this, if the cause of aches and pains, and seizing up were caused by aging then it would happen to everyone, and it just doesn’t. Which means there are other factors.
In truth it’s reversible and I’d like to show you how to join the dots.
When you think about the knee it’s a pretty solid piece of kit and some people manage their whole lives without having any knee joint pain at all, where others like my lovely mum suffered it for many years.
What Does META-Health Say
The Two Phases Of Disease model, tells us that pain only arrives at the second of two phases, of what doctors call the Parasympathetic Nervous System (second phase), where odema (water) creates a painful swelling in the affected area.
Which means that during the Sympathetic Nervous System (first phase) you felt no pain at all, instead you had other stress-related symptoms you may or mayn’t have noticed.
It also means that if you have the pain come and go, you might ask yourself, “What’s going on that brings the pain back”?
The Two Phases Of Disease
I’ve written about this elsewhere and will have that information installed on this site soon, so I’ll just explain briefly for now what caused the knee joint pain. Have a look at the diagram here and you’ll see the Two Phases Of Disease.
META-Health tells us that all *diseases (see below for definition) are caused by an emotional trauma or shock, whether it’s large or small. And the associated triggers for the knee are as shown below, although certain conditions such as arthritis and others will have other more specific interpretations, where some of this might apply as well:
Knee problems are about not wanting to submit to a situation, having to make a stand, spiritual turmoil, or together with the ankle is likely to be about moving in a direction you don’t want to go in, a conflict, or missing a sport or physical activity you enjoy. Taking Good Care
As the image at the top of the page advises, keeping the knee warm, resting, eating sensibly and applying some gentle exercise will go a long way to restoring it, for now; but if it’s a chronic condition wouldn’t you like to see it off for good and ensure it doesn’t make an unwelcome return?
If you’re suffering at the moment, do any of the above aspects resonate?
Take a moment now to tune into your pain and see if anything comes to mind?
I can tell you that mine was seemingly triggered at a yoga class, when my regular teacher was away, and it hurt like hell momentarily when it happened.
I didn’t know about this model back then; but I was in a job that gave me a step up, into a handpicked team, and subconsciously that move validated me, which ironically brought on the **pain (see below for definition).
This would lead me to find the motivation to leave a job I’d been in for 9-yrs and take a leap of faith into starting my health practice.
Pain Is A Trigger
If it’s a trigger, meaning it’s happened before, then the original cause of what turned into a longer-term pattern needs finding so it can change. It’s elegant because the body:mind:brain connection doesn’t lie! You can’t dispute it when symptoms clear off for good, and you know when they have, because we test it.
It simply means your body is a handy self-help tool that uses all it’s resources to get a message into your conscious awareness, which often shows up in the form of pain, or another set of symptoms as it sees fit. Therefore the pain is intended to grab your attention in order to get you to take appropriate action.
The good news is that it doesn’t usually take long to work on these things, and one of the great things with pain is that once we find the slippery little suckers, the emotional culprits (which do not need talking over you’ll be pleased to hear) we can bring the pain on and let it go again, all within moments, and you’ll not need much more convincing than that.
Think about what getting rid of yours would do for you?
* Here we’re using the word disease in it’s broadest sense. It refers to pain, physical symptoms, mental health, unhelpful behaviours, compulsions and addictions.
** Pain arrives when we feel better about an event that we didn’t feel strong enough to deal with at the time.
